BALANCING ACTS (2017)

 

A multi-media performance telling the stories of six men and women's experience of depression, and the unique ways they find to cope: from diving and boxing to sex and song.

 

Based on candid interviews, the show uses film and verbatim performance to re-create their worlds, from a 61-year-old agoraphobic man to a 27-year-old deep sea diver. The show aims to build a deeper emotional insight into the condition, to encourage new conversations and explore ways to deal with and potentially overcome it.

BALANCING ACTS transferred to The Garage Norwich following a sold-out run at VAULT Festival 2017, and sold-out premiere performances at Camden People's Theatre in December 2016:

About the company:

Filmmaking and visual anthropology team, Kaleido Film Collective, collaborate with feminist theatre company Feral Foxy Ladies, to explore how documentary, performance and film can intersect to gain deeper insight into the human condition.
